If an item is faulty please contact us via email at orders@tradinginstyle.com within three days of receiving your item(s).
Once your return has been approved please return the item(s) to us within 7 business days.

We are confident that your purchase is authentic and genuine. Each item is meticulously inspected and authenticated by our team of in-house experts, with additional verification through trusted third-party authentication services including Entrupy and Luxury Authentication.

If you wish to consign with us but cannot provide us with the original proof of purchase, there will be a charge of $42 – $200 to authenticate your item as genuine. A certificate of authenticity will then be provided to the purchaser of the item, or back to the consignor; should the item not sell within the consignment period. If an original receipt or proof of purchase is supplied, but doesn't fulfil our stringent criteria, Trading in Style reserves the right to process further authentication at consignors expense. If this is the case, the consignor will be notified beforehand.

In alignment with our authenticity guarantee, it is Trading in Style policy that all Hermès bags must be authenticated by us, no exceptions.

We have a quality scale from excellent to well-loved. Each item is thoroughly inspected by our team to determine condition.
The condition guidelines are as follows:

Excellent:
Item is pre-owned and in excellent condition, either with tags, or unworn with no signs of wear.

Very Good:
Item is pre-loved, has been lightly used and is in very good condition, showing little signs of wear.

Good:
Item is pre-loved, has been used and is in good condition, with some wear and / or imperfections present such as (but not limited to) scratches, stains or marks.

Well-Loved:
Item is pre-loved, has been used frequently and shows signs of wear and / or damage such as (but not limited to) scratches, stains or marks.

Items are consigned for approximately 6 weeks. 

 

Unsold items will be returned or donated to charity after 6 weeks, consignor to advise. An email will be sent after 6 weeks advising the consignor to collect any unsold items, if not collected within 10 days we will donate to charity partner Dress for Success on your behalf. If client opts for returns to be mailed, this will be at consignor’s expense.

• 50% – for all items under $999
• 60% – for all items over $1,000
• 65% – for all items over $2,000
• 70% – for all items over $3,000
• 75% – for all items over $5,000
• 80% – for all items over $6,000
• 85% – for all items over $10,000

Accessories

• 50% – for all items under $999
• 70% – for all items between $1,000 and $4,999
• 75% – for all items over $5,000
• 80% – for all items over $6,000
• 85% – for all items over $10,000

Please note: We sell pre-loved items as an agent on behalf of the owner of these products. In Australia we are therefore only liable to pay GST on the commission we earn as an agent and not on the selling price of the goods. In summary GST is not included in the sale price and tax cannot be claimed on purchases.

Consignors are paid on a three week cycle via direct deposit.

Please understand that once you are handing over your items, the intention is then to sell. Our expert team starts our service by researching, authenticating, pricing and preparing your garments for sale, which is a rigorous process . Should you choose not to consign your items with us once priced, a service fee will be charged. Fees are as follows: 5 or less items $50; 6-15 items $100; 16 or more items $150. This fee is in addition to any cleaning or authenticity charges that may apply. Thank you for your understanding.

During the agreed consignment period, Trading in Style takes full responsibility for your items. In the unlikely event of theft or fire, consignors will be reimbursed their agreed consignment commission within a reasonable timeframe following settlement from insurers.

Please allow 20% movement with the final sale price. We will always endeavour to get the original agreed sale price. If we manage to sell your item(s) for more than the agreed price we will honour the higher commissioned amount. The updated spreadsheet will reflect the final adjusted sale price, and your commission.

Regarding virtual consignment appointments; once your items have preliminary approval they must be delivered to Trading in Style within two weeks. There is a possibility that your items may be declined if we receive them after this period, as our consignment preferences are seasonal and reflective of what our customers are buying. All items need to be re-reviewed after this two weeks period to ensure that they still align with the current style guide.

Here's what you need to do:

 

1. Send photos of the item(s) you wish to sell via Instagram or email.

If you have in excess of 20 items you can book in for a virtual consignment appointment. We also offer a concierge service for excess of 30 items, please email consignments@tradinginstyle.com to arrange a home visit.

 

2. Once your items have been approved by our team, please post your items to 216a Clovelly Road, Randwick, NSW, 2031, or drop your items to 207 Clovelly Road, Randwick, NSW, 2031 (Tuesday to Friday 10am – 3pm) or to Shop 6/157 Curlewis Street, Bondi Beach, NSW 2026 (Monday to Saturday 10am - 5pm, Sunday 10am - 4pm) with a packing slip.
It is crucial this is provided with your item(s) to ensure our team has as much information as possible when we come to pricing.

 

3. Once we have received your items, please allow up to 7 business days for our consignment team to process your consignment. You will then receive an email requesting your approval on pricing, along with a copy of our terms and conditions.

 

4. After your approval our team will start selling and re-homing your pieces.
