With schools back, and work ramping up for us all, the summer holidays feel like a distant memory! We’ll be honest, we’ve found getting back into a routine more than a little challenging this week. This summer we’ve been embracing simplicity in our everyday looks (who wants overcomplicated dressing anyway) and we’re easing back into real life with the same effortless aesthetic to make what we’re wearing one less thing to think about!
Work, work, work
Our favourite summer work look? A white dress. It’s the ultimate neutral for the warmer months, oozes chic and can be dressed up with a pair of tan or statement metallic heels – or, like me, worn with flats as I’m mostly on my feet at the office all day.
Want to save time in the morning? Avoid morning wardrobe stress and forward plan – a simple dress is an option work option, and if colour is more your style, this is the season to embrace bold hues!
Coffee, errands, puppies and everything in between
For days when you have everything to do, want to embrace comfort but still look put together – we go for a simple pair of paper bag shorts and a tee - the ideal way to wear summer staples in a more polished way. For shorts with this cut, go for a loose tee which you can tuck in giving you volume on top, deifying your waistline and giving the look a more polished finish. Add hiker sandals (Bassike, Chanel) or your favourite kicks (Golden Goose) to keep things moving.
This summer matching set trend isn’t going anywhere – and we have definitely embraced sets in a BIG way. Not only perfect for school run (jumping in an out of the car wearing a flowy dress or shorter skirt just isn’t practical), the co-ord shorts and top makes for chic weekend wear too. We love sets from Bassike, Lucy Folk.
Is it even summer in Australia if you haven’t donned a floral dress and had lunch with the girls? Take some time out for you, grab your besties and make a statement in a truly beautiful pieces from Zimmermann. We love their dresses for events, casual catch ups and work days, the feminine cut of this dress and paisley print will ensure that you take your outfit to the next level.
Isn’t it Romantic
Whether you’re planning a date night this weekend or looking ahead to Valentine’s Day next Sunday to dial up the romance, when you get the chance for some time for the two of you – now’s the time to be a little more daring (did someone say cut outs)? This soft pink Hannah Artwear dress has become my go-to for summer nights, perfect with flats or a heel and a stack of gold necklaces.
