One week, six looks

Posted by on

We’ve had one of those working weeks with meetings, desk time, virtual consignments, playdates for the kids and essential errand running – a little something of everything!  Our wardrobes had to be at their most flexible especially with the chilly Sydney mornings and stunning sunny days – we’re upping our layering game early this year!

Here are our six favourite looks from the past week – and some hints on how to make them work for you.

Scanlan Theodore leather pants , loewe

Leather pants might just be a girl’s new best friend. Fast becoming my wardrobe staple, this pair in a neutral shade work perfectly with a casual tee and a denim jacket (always choose a contrasting fabric when wearing leather – you don’t want to look like you belong in a biker gang).  You could also switch a tee out for a feminine blouse or crisp white shirt for a more polished look for the office or working lunch.

Scanlan Theodore, Bassike linen

This super easy look was a go-to for a day of meetings, school pick-ups and a couple of Zooms. Rather than opting for all black (save that for winter) I softened the look with these mustard pants (note the oh-so comfy elastic waist). The great thing is all these pieces can be worn separately with so many other things in my closet, a great way to maximise your pieces and save budget.  Just add a statement bag and my trusted favourite, black sandals, for the perfect trans-seasonal outfit.

Gucci loafers. Agolde jeans

If you’re a regular Trading in Style follower, you’ll know my love for jeans and a blazer – it’s a fashion no-brainer for a pulled together work look that can take you from the office to dinner.  I’ve been waiting for the cooler weather to wear this jacket - the check  makes it a great statement piece to pop on top of jeans and a simple top to add a more dressy feel. The pattern and cut give it an elevated feel and is versatile enough to work with black or cream pants too.

 Prada re edition, Bassike sandals

This could be the best way to make cooler mornings and warmer days work for my wardrobe! I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant to try the biker shorts trend out of the gym at first, but work with an oversized white shirt and my favourite tailored blazer, I’m embracing this look weekly!

Ganni parka, Golden Goose sneakers, Loewe puzzle

Ok, so it’s not winter yet, but winter whites are one of my go-to’s every year, and these white jeans are on high rotation – they’re a must have. White jeans are so versatile and can easily pair back with almost every top in my wardrobe.  This week I kept things crisp and fresh with an ecru sweater and added a parka for a “don’t have time to stop” day.

Jac and Jack, Golden Goose superstar distressed, Bassike knitwear

Working with varying hues of a single shade can create a beautifully polished look, even when the cuts are more relaxed – think comfortable separates in the same tones. Working from the same colour palette means I can get dressed on auto-pilot (an essential for some mornings when my toddler isn’t keen to work to my schedule)! This statement coat has the perfect tan hue running through the check to elevate the look for work – it’s great with denim, black and white too so get ready to see a lot more of it on me this winter!
